Parent Guide

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

It is most important that parents and caregivers understand the importance of structure and consistency. All of our teachers work very hard to create a secure, happy, stable environment for our children. We ask that parents respect drop off and pick up times.

ARRIVAL TIME

All children are asked to arrive to school by 9:00AM to participate in morning meeting/circle time. Please be considerate of how late arrivals can be disruptive to the whole group and that you can help support us in smooth management of the day by being on time. If your child will not be attending school, please call by 9:00AM or send us a message on the Brightwheel App, to inform us of your child’s absence.

DEPARTURE

Standard schedule children are to be picked up from their primary classrooms no later than 4:00PM.  Please allow a few minutes before your scheduled pick up time to collect their belongings and have any necessary discussions with the teacher in order to exit on time.

Extended care children will begin “after school” at 4:00PM. Parents and caregivers should plan on first collecting personal items in their child’s classroom and then collect their child(ren) no later than 6:00PM.

In addition, please notify Creative Academy in advance if an unauthorized person will be picking up your child. Written permission must be received before we will release a child to anyone who is not authorized on the registration form. Photo identification will be required for any unauthorized person to pick up.

CONFERENCES

Creative Academy has an open door policy where parents may visit and check in on their child; they can even participate in certain aspects of the school day in the classroom. However, it is expected that parents give notice and coordinate with teachers for these special activities/extended visits in the room to avoid unplanned disruptions.

FIELD TRIPS

Beginning in our 3’s classroom, children will have educational field trips scheduled during Spring and Summer seasons, which are meant to enhance and compliment thematic aspects of the Creative Academy Curriculum. Children will be transported by either an approved Department of Transportation school bus or public transportation, depending on the trip location/destination. As trips are scheduled, your child’s teacher will reach out to the classroom families to get volunteers to be parent chaperones to help us adhere to safety regulations.

MEALS

Children (ages one & up) at Creative Academy may opt-in our school catered lunch program, for an additional weekly fee. Our meals are created exclusively for children and provide us with nutritious, made-from-scratch meals every day.

Or, you are welcome to send lunch from home every day.

For children in our 2’s and 3’s program, pacifiers, bottles and sippy cups from home will not be utilized during the school day, as these items may interfere with any speech and language development.

Only water and milk will be served throughout the day for all age groups. No sweet juices etc.

For health, safety and allergy reasons, we are a nut-free school.

  • Peanuts, tree nuts, or any food or snack item prepared in a factory that processes nuts, this also includes almond milk.  Please understand that nut allergies can be dangerous to affected children. Be diligent in reading labels when packing snacks and lunches.
